Commercial real estate is often viewed as a highly competitive industry. Yet some of the most successful professionals understand that long-term growth is built not only through competition, but also through collaboration.
Having been a member of the QPAREB Commercial Group for many years, one aspect I have always appreciated is the willingness of members to help one another. Whether sharing market intelligence, discussing complex transactions, identifying solutions for clients, or making introductions, the group’s culture reflects a belief that the industry becomes stronger when knowledge and opportunities circulate among trusted professionals.
This spirit of cooperation is not universal. In some organizations, brokers operate in silos and view one another primarily as competitors. My experience has been the opposite: when professionals collaborate, clients receive better advice, transactions become more efficient, and the entire market benefits. In a relationship-driven industry such as commercial real estate, a strong professional community may be one of the most valuable resources a broker can have.
