One of the advantages of participating in industry activities is the opportunity to build relationships with professionals beyond one’s own specialization. While my practice focuses exclusively on commercial real estate, I make a point of maintaining strong relationships with residential brokers across Québec.
When a client asks for a recommendation to buy or sell a house, condominium, cottage, or recreational property, the decision is about much more than selecting someone with experience. Every transaction is different, and every client has a unique personality, communication style, timeline, and set of expectations. The best match often comes from understanding not only a broker’s expertise, but also how they work, communicate, solve problems, and support their clients throughout the process.
Over the years, I have found that investing time in getting to know fellow brokers allows me to make more thoughtful introductions when opportunities arise. Real estate remains a people business. Sometimes the greatest value we can provide is not completing the transaction ourselves, but connecting clients with the right professional to help them achieve their goals.
